Neither an expert, nor a chef, I am an apprentice like
yourself and definitely passionate about the art of cooking and the little
moments of happiness it provides me with.
Originally Indian, Muslim, born in Madagascar, raised
in a french environment and having received my education in the American/Canadian world, I often proudly flaunt that I am, like many others, a melting pot of
cultures. When all those cultures come together, you certainly understand that
it creates delicious recipes, full of flavors and colors. :)
I am passionate about cooking and baking since my
childhood. I get better with time and the passion grows with every
dish. This passion, I owe it to three women with “fairy fingers” as we say in
French : My motri nani (meaning my
maternal great grandmother in gujraati), my Nani
(maternal grandmother) and my Mithi maa
(my mother).
As far as Snmade, it first began with #selfmade on
Instagram… which then became #snmade. And the Facebook page as well as the blog
itself, they began during my new student life. I always told myself “There is
no way I’ll be eating pasta and McDo’s all the time!”, and so I started making
and sharing my recipes to fight against the cliché that students can’t cook, eat
fast food only, and also the one about cooking being too hard.
I hope to inspire you to bring out the chef in you and
make your meals at home. If you try the recipes, let me know, send me pictures,
I always love seeing those! & follow me on Instagram for more. Enjoy your
visit in my world :)
With love,
Shahana N.
